Presented at the newly-renovated Sherman Cymru theatre in Cardiff, Peter Gill’s adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s novella told the story of Misail, a young man in 1890s Russia who struggled to exchange his privileged position for the life of a worker, in a search for equality that resonates deeply today.
Cardiff-born Gill directed the production, which also saw a world-class creative team including designer Alison Chitty, whose minimalist set and delicate details received critical acclaim.
